Dear Co-op Members, Delivery schedule: July 26; Aug. 9 & 23; skipping Sept. 6, so Sept. 13 & 27; Oct. 11 & 25; Nov. 8 & 22; Dec. 6 & 20; January 3.
Please find a sub for yourself if you will be away, or donate your share. Coordinators may have a list of people who will sub, but they may not, which is why we need your help in this. As a Co-op, each of us is needed to do his or her part and be responsible. Thanks for your help!
This week, we're getting New York ecologically grown cherries (coordinators/dividers: please make sure you have small bags for these,) (local peaches next delivery!) and organically grown basil, collard greens, green and cc0000 leaf lettuces, sugar snap peas (eat the pods) and mixed summer squashes, Delaware blueberries (order soon if you would like 20 lbs. to freeze, $60,) California carrots, eggplant, peaches and romanesco or broccoflower; grape cherry tomatoes from Mexico, Ecuadorian bananas and gold kiwi from New Zealand. The onion price is still ridiculous. Please call immediately with any quality questions.
Fruit shares are getting a honeydew melon, a Haden mango (probably, unless we end up having to substitute something else,) nectarines and cc0000 plums . Fruit shares are $20, or three or more, $17. Please order by Monday morning, or call to cancel or confirm by then as well.
A few new members are needed for the groups in Annandale, Teaneck, Waldwick, Valley Cottage and Staten Island. Please call with addresses and phone numbers of any potentially interested friends in these (or any) areas and we will send a brochure. Thank you to everyone who has helped us with this so far. Dividing instructions are in the manila envelope sent with each delivery. Dividers, please be vigilant about quality and call us right away so we can get ccc0000it from suppliers. Please get an ok from the office if you think it best not to give out an entire case of something. Always get an ok from the office before you divide two of something if the dividing instructions don't say to divide two cases, bags, etc. What's coming in the order email (Tues. for Wed./Thurs. groups; Thurs. for Sat. groups): Send your name and your coordinator's name to janit@verizon.net to get on the list.
How to make a Special Order: Call the office on Monday of your order week. Pay for your special orders by giving your coordinator a check before the delivery payable to Purple Dragon. Write the item and coordinator's name on the comment line. Or send it to us.

Do you have a compost? If not, consider having one. It is an easy way to create topsoil for your yard, as well as an environmentally positive way to deal with veggie waste. Garden centers sell nice composters and there are many good books available about how to do this.

Babaganoush 1-2 eggplants, pierced with a fork, baked at 350-400 on a tray with a lip until softsalt, pepper 1⁄4 cup each tahini
and olive oil and lemon juice 2 TBS. parsley flakes Scrape meat out of eggplant skin. Blend all ingcc0000ients together. Serve at room temperature or cold with pita triangles or crudités.
